Just a quick recap of this year's Ministry at Greenwood Community Covenant Church. We have filled our new Fellowship Hall several times with wedding anniversaries, services for those who have passed on for the families, Vacation Bible School activities, potlucks, dinners after Easter Service and other special occasions.
What a blessing this Fellowship Hall has been, thank God it's paid for and it's beautiful and useful.
Our new Phoenix Organ continues to be a great asset in the worship services, paid fpr, dedicated to God's work in this Fellowship,
Have new altar cross and candleholders, new sign on Baldwin Beach Express and Highway 36, we have our new wireless hearing aid system for those who can't hear well installed just in the past few days.
We already support one Missionary Family and we have decided this year to support another you can find that information below. We also support Women's Care Medical Center, information below. Our new website has been up now for over a year, used frequently all around the world.
We are now on two radio stations, WHEP in Foley, WABF in Fairhope, getting the word out of the good news of the Kingdom each Sunday morning.
Vacation Bible School in July was a great success 85 different children average of 59 every day many decisions were made for Christ.
Now we look to the rest of the year. Homecoming is just around the corner the last Sunday in October. We will have a special singer and speaker and this year you'll be excited about who that is, please keep checking the website.
Thanksgiving services including the pie supper of meat pies and sweet pies, always a special night at Greenwood, and then the grand finale of the year, our 3rd year to have the Marionettes with a new multi thousand-dollar stage in the Fellowship Hall and some new marionettes with the new story that we have written called “The Children’s Red Caboose Christmas“
You won't want to miss this production, check the website for the time and dates in December.
More than that we have Faithfully worshiped God preached the Word. joined together as a fellowship of Believers, reached out thru our food pantry, gifts to The backpack program in the schools, Angel Tree program at Christmas and Samaritan's Purse with the Christmas boxes,
Rolled bandages for missions on the fifth Sunday night of the months that have the fifth Sunday. We are very active if you have nowhere else to worship please feel free to come join us.
We have seen many drawn to Christ through all of these efforts and that's what it's all about.
From our friends back from Brazil, John and Bonnie Schell......
Dear Friends and Family,
On Monday afternoon, we met with Tom Queiroz and his church leaders for prayer and encouragement. That night, we ministered at Tom’s church where John asked if there was anyone who had a problem with a hospital. A lady came forward, saying she had been fired from a hospital the week before. We all prayed for her and asked God for another job and that it would be a better job. Three days later, she came to another church where we were to let us know that our prayers had been answered, and she was to begin the new job the following Monday. She was super excited.
Wednesday, we traveled to Alexania to Pastor Cleiton’s church. We had a good response to the ministry there. Thursday, we ate at Pastor Daniel’s home in Ouro Verde, where we sat outside at a very long table which had 18 chairs to eat fish he had caught. Afterwards, we ministered at their church.
We started three days of ministry at Pastor Moises Romero’s church in Anapolis on Friday. We met to minister to his pastors on Saturday morning and ministered to around 60 of his church workers on Sunday morning.
At the meeting on Saturday night, Pastor Moises asked John to pray for a young man (Igor) who was demon possessed. His father, a government prosecutor, and his mother had been recently born again and just didn’t know what to do with their son. He was causing problems everywhere he went and had a list of people he was planning to kill. As John began to talk to him, he asked him if he had been born again and his response was no. John asked Pastor Moises to pray for him in Portuguese and Igor was born again and set free from the demonic strongholds. His whole demeanor and countenance changed, which reminded John of Jesus’ encounter with the Gadarene demoniac. He and his parents were very excited, to say the least.
On Monday afternoon, Daniel and Sara Benfica, took us to the airport in Brasilia where some people from one of the churches in Brazilia met us to tell us good-bye.
The people there are so kind and appreciative. Many of them told us how God had answered our prayers for them in 2014. It’s amazing how God connects us with people we feel are like family after only a few days. Thank you for your prayers and support for this trip. We see so many amazing things happen when we are in Brazil, and we know that it’s because the Lord is with us and that you are praying for us.
With thankful hearts,
John and Bonnie Schell
